Why It Matters

Your Renovation.

Done Right.

Since April 1, 2025, all electrical work in Alberta must comply with the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) — which introduced expanded requirements for arc-fault protection, kitchen circuit layouts, and outdoor receptacles. Whether you’re updating a kitchen, finishing a basement, or adding a garage workshop, the electrical behind the walls needs to be planned properly before the first board goes up.
  • Unpermitted wiring must be disclosed at sale and can derail deals
  • Knob-and-tube and aluminum wiring can't safely handle modern loads
  • New circuits to 2024 CEC standards prevent fires and shocks
  • Renovations are the lowest-cost time to add GFCI and AFCI protection
  • A load calculation up front prevents surprise panel upgrades mid-project

Signs You May Need Electrical Renovations

  • You're adding a kitchen island, home office, workshop, or finishing a basement
  • Outlets feel warm, spark occasionally, or trip the breaker during normal use
  • You have two-prong ungrounded outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, or living areas
  • Your renovation plans involve moving or adding walls that contain wiring
  • A home inspector has noted aluminum wiring, knob-and-tube, or an undersized panel
Unsure what your reno requires? We’ll tell you exactly what the code needs — before you commit to a scope.

What's Included

Complete Renovation Electrical

Circuit Planning & Design

We plan your circuits before the first wall is opened — confirming outlet locations, dedicated appliance circuits, and lighting layouts that meet code and actually work for how the space will be used.

Rough-in Wiring

Clean, organized rough-in work that makes the drywaller’s life easier and the inspector’s job straightforward. Wiring is protected with steel nail plates, properly stapled, and run with enough service loop at every box.

AFCI & GFCI Upgrades

Any circuits being extended or modified during a renovation need to meet 2024 code — which typically means AFCI breakers in living areas and GFCI protection in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages.

Permits & Final Inspection

We pull the General Wiring permit, coordinate the rough-in and final inspections, and keep your renovation on schedule. No waiting on paperwork you don’t understand.
