Why It Matters

Protect Your Property.

Power Your Life.

The standard 100-amp service that powered Calgary homes for decades isn’t built for today’s electrical demands. EV chargers, heat pumps, legal basement suites, and modern appliances put real stress on an older system. In Alberta, a panel upgrade is a regulated process — governed by the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and Alberta STANDATA — not something you can patch around.
  • Unpermitted panel work voids your homeowner's insurance in Alberta
  • Pre-2000 Calgary homes need 200A service for EV chargers, heat pumps, and suites
  • Tripping breakers and overheating wires signal a panel that can't keep up
  • Upgraded panels satisfy CMHC and lender requirements
  • Proactive upgrades cost far less than emergency repairs

Signs You May Need a Panel Upgrade

  • Breakers trip or need resetting regularly
  • You have a fuse box instead of a breaker panel
  • Lights flicker when large appliances turn on
  • You're adding an EV charger, hot tub, or basement suite
  • Your home predates 1980 with no electrical updates
  • An inspector or insurer has flagged your panel

What's Included

Complete Panel Solutions

Load Calculations

Before any work starts, we run a full CEC Rule 8-200 load calculation to confirm your home’s actual demand and size the new service correctly. This is required by code — and it’s what protects you from buying a panel that’s still undersized.

Permits & Utility Coordination

We pull the required City of Calgary or Chestermere permit, coordinate the power disconnection with Enmax or Fortis Alberta, and schedule the Safety Codes Officer inspection. You don’t have to manage any of it.

Panel Installation & Labelling

The new panel is installed to code, wired cleanly, and labelled with a clear, printed breaker directory as required under CEC Rule 2-100. No more mystery breakers.

Whole-Home Surge Protection

We recommend installing a Surge Protective Device (SPD) at the main panel during any upgrade — it protects your appliances, electronics, and EV charger from grid spikes and Alberta’s storm season.
